Home Adaptations

Back to Basics: Deconstruction Not Demolition

But by looking to salvage warehouses and pre-demolition companies, you could pocket some cash, find building materials at a steep discount, and keep waste out of landfills.

Mandatory Energy Audits: Toothless 

On the face of it, mandatory energy audits may seem ideal for giving home buyers a grip on a prospective home’s energy costs and a way for them to make apples-to-apples comparisons among properties. 

Some city and state governments have put forward proposals that would require homeowners to get an audit or energy score before selling a home. 

But there are unintended consequences of mandatory energy audits, and REALTOR® organizations have fought against such measures in the handful of places that have proposed them.
