EverGreen Award: Seeking the Brightest Green Lights

What are you doing to lead homeowners and home buyers down a greener path? How have you dedicated yourself to creating a green lifestyle at home, at work, and out in the world? How are you working with local organizations and other professionals to make your community more sustainable? How have you demonstrated your commitment to advancing the green building industry and its practice? Have you found creative ways to get the green word out to your community and colleagues? How have you continued to develop your green skills, education, and reputation?

In our quest to find this year’s EverGreen winners, the GRC is interested in your answers to any or all of the above questions.
Each year – this will be our eleventh – we look for the brightest green lights among GRC  members to recognize with the EverGreen award.
We want to hear your story.

Net-Zero Design Reshapes Senior Living

People rarely think of downsizing to any retirement facility as something that’s more. It’s almost always seen as less, whether that’s less space, less freedom, or less fulfillment.

Vassar Byrd is working to turn that thinking on its head with the redevelopment of Rose Villa, a 22-acre senior living community overlooking the Willamette River in Portland, OR.

The three-phase project started with a campus redevelopment that brought 75 new homes and a walkable environment, including a Main Street, green space, gardens, retail, and restaurants.

And with the recent addition of the Oaks at Rose Villa, Byrd, Rose Villa’s CEO, is cementing the idea that better options exist both for residents and for the environment.
