How to Earn Your Green Designation
EARN YOUR GREEN DESIGNATION
The foundation of the Green designation is a two-day course which is offered online and in-person so you can learn at the pace that works with your busy schedule. Once you’ve completed the course, you’ll be a Green designee. Here’s how it works:
2 EASY STEPS TO EARN THE GREEN DESIGNATION

STEP 1. Successful completion of the two-day Green Designation Course: The Intersection of Real Estate & Sustainability
- Available online and taken at your own pace through the Center for REALTOR® Development for $310 ($620 for non-members).
- Available in a live classroom setting through CRD-licensed course providers (includes live virtual option). Cost varies by provider. Search for courses near you.

STEP 2. Maintain active membership & designation status
To maintain your Green Designation, you must keep an active membership with the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) and current Green Designation status.
Your first year of the Green Designation is free and begins when you complete the Green Designation Course.
From the second year onward, annual renewals are $98.50.
*Renewals are nonrefundable*
What Happens Next?
- If you took the online course: Course completions will be processed and entered in our database weekly.
- If you took the classroom course: Course completion information will be entered once the course provider has submitted a class roster to us. This can take up to 2 weeks.
- Once we have logged your course completion, we will email you to notify you of your newly active Green designation.
